Discovery of the 4.6 billion-year-old Meteorite

Astronomers have found a meteorite that is even-aged than Earth and is a volcanic rock in nature, as per experts, it is 4.6 billion years old. This rare rock has been discovered in the desert of Algeria, which is a part of the regular Sahara desert. The rock is thought to have formed 2 million years after the creation of the solar system.

According to, French expert Jean Alix Barrat says it was the most amazing discovery of his life. Examine this will make us aware of the past of our solar system and we will also be able to know the development of the earth. This meteorite has been named “Erg Chech 002 or EC 002”.

This type of rock on Earth is called andesites which are common in geological subduction zones. In these locations, the earth’s natural geological plates meet and compete with each other.

However, the rocky meteors discover so far are made of basalt. The preliminary research has displayed that it is made of molten material and is volcanic in nature. Later 4.6 billion years ago, it froze and solidified.

This meteorite has been part of a failed planet or protoplanet that could not have been a planet but was broken and scattered somewhere, in the coming time experts will do more research on it and uncover more secrets about it.
