According to the Interior Ministry, social media platforms have been banned across the country from 11 am to 3 pm, and the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has shut down social media services at the ministry’s request.

Media reports quoted sources as saying that anti-national elements were spreading negative propaganda by contacting each other on social media sites and the purpose of shutting down social media sites was to break the network of anti-national elements.

According to security experts, the unrest in the country over the past few days has once again threatened protests due to Friday’s rallies, prompting the government to ban social media for a few hours.
