Web Desk. It is unthinkable for a train to run without tracks, but it has been made possible in China. There are indeed derailment trains in China that are capable of automatic driving.
In fact, it is a combination of train, tram, and bus that can travel on any road with 500 passengers.
The Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) project was launched in 2017 in the central Chinese city of Zhuzhou and was dubbed the Smart Bus. These guided buses are a ride between a train, tram, and bus, with rubber tires, and can travel at speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour.
At full charge, this bus-like train travels 40 km with a length of 30 meters. It has 3 to 5 carriage and each carriage can carry 100 passengers. This train can travel automatically, but drivers can also drive it at will.
It has a sensor system that helps drivers keep trains in virtual lanes and issues an automatic warning if they get out of the way. It also has a collision warning system on the road that helps keep the driver safe from other vehicles.
If the driver wants to change his route, a navigation device checks the traffic on the alternate route and determines the route, just like Google Maps.
Trains require only 20 seconds to travel 2 to 3 miles, compared to 10 minutes for 16 miles. The system is currently being used in various parts of China, and plans are afoot to use it for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Doha, Qatar.
