UK, more than half of adults received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

The last Friday was the largest ever vaccination day in the UK, with more than 660,000 doses given. More than half of the UK’s adult population has now received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines.

According to The Guardian, on Friday, the records 660,276 doses were administered at more than 1,600 sites in the UK, the largest number ever, at 528,260 first jobs and 132,016-second jobs. The former high was 609,010, which was set on January 30.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said in a video message posted on Twitter: “I am delighted to announce that we have now completed corona vaccine in half of the adult population in the UK. It is a great achievement and I am grateful to all of them. Many thanks to each and every those invalid in all the process.

The UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said: “I am very proud of the progress that has been made so far in vaccination program as in other parts of the country. There is still a long way to go and I encourage everyone to do the same when asked to do so.

UK PM also added, I received my first vaccine yesterday and I would like to thank the full NHS staff I met, along with teams and volunteers working across the country.

Official figures as of Thursday 18 March showed that 49.9 percent of the UK population aged 18 and over had received the first dose of the vaccine, with 73,000 to pass half of the total numbers. Around 26,263732 people received the first Covid-19 dose and 2,011070 received the second dose.

Sir Simon Stevens, chief executive of the NHS, said: “When it was my turn this week, I was very happy to take my first dose. We had a great supply in the coming weeks. So if you are over fifty years old, now is the best time to book your Covid-19 vaccine with the NHS.

Dr. Mike Tildsley, a pathologist who is a member of the SPI-M modeling group that advises the government, told BBC Radio 4’s Today program: “The really dangerous thing is that if we If you risk your vaccination campaign, vaccines will not work as quickly and effectively.

Recent daily figures confirm just over 4,800 new cases of Covid-19 in the UK, around 1/5 less than 6,303 on Thursday. There were 101 deaths recorded within 28 days of a positive test for Covid-19, bringing the total to 126,026 in the UK.
